“When hope is crushed, the heart is crushed, but a wish come true fills you with joy.” Proverbs 13:12 (GNB)
What is hope?
According to Merriam-Webster hope is:
- to cherish a desire with anticipation: to want something to happen or be true
- to desire with expectation of obtainment or fulfillment
- to expect with confidence: trust
According to the Biblical definition it is a strong confident expectation.
With everything that is going on with us and around us we must keep looking up, it’s easy to focus on those things that are frightening, confusing or uncertain and lose hope. But we must continue to do what the Bible says in Psalm 42:5 “…hope thou in God…” Our hope and our confidence must be in Him. God is our only constant. He has never changed and never will. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day and for ever,” Hebrews 13:8.
It may seem hard not to lose hope right now, but He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He’s still with us and still in control, even if it doesn’t appear to be so. Yes, your anger, your pain, your disappointment, your not knowing what next or whatever it is you’re feeling or going through right now, IT’S REAL! Romans 4:18 speaks of Abraham, “Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.” Even though he was almost a hundred years old he still did not lose hope. He didn’t focus on his or Sarah’s age but on what God said when He promised He would make him the father of many nations.
We too must focus on God’s Word, not what we see or even feel if it doesn’t line up with what God says in His Word. Again, that’s not always easy. That’s why we must continue to pray, read His Word and believe, allowing Him to be our strength, our joy, our peace, our confidence and hope. Hope against hope (When everything around us says not to hope; but we continue to do so).
If you know Him, continue to hope in Him. If you don’t know Him, get to know Him. Ask him to come into your heart. How do you do that? It’s simple. Pray this prayer; Lord, I confess that I am a sinner and I ask that you would forgive me for my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son and that he died for me and that you raised him from the dead. I now confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Jesus, for coming into and living in my heart from this day forward. If you prayed that prayer, congratulations! I am so glad you are now a part of the Body of Christ! Ask Him to lead you to the local church, that He would have you to be a part of. If you have questions, please email me at dearfutureimready@lifelinelifecoachingllc.net.
And remember “Don’t Lose Hope”.
