Find Joy In The Journey

“I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”  Psalms 27:13

We are all on a journey.  Each of us will encounter many things on our journey; some the same, some not the same, some good and some not good.  There are times on our journey when everything around us looks and sounds bleak and dim.  But it is in those times we must make a conscious effort to find joy.

Find is defined as:

  1. To locate, attain, or obtain by search or effort.
  2. To locate or recover (something lost or misplaced).
  3. To discover or perceive after consideration.
  4. To become aware of, or discover (oneself), as being in a condition or location.

Referencing the quote above, we must choose to find joy.  It is a choice, and no one can make it for us.  We must decide for ourselves if we will continue to simply focus on what we see and hear, or if we will go against what we see and hear and find joy in the midst of what we are going through.

David said in Psalms 27:13, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”  He had to focus on the goodness of the LORD when everything around him did not look so good; we must do the same.  You may be asking, “How can I with all that is going on in the world and around me?”

Philippians 4:8 AMP says to think on, “….whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them and implant them in your heart].  What are you thinking and focusing on?  Is it bringing you joy and peace or sadness and fear?  If it is the latter, I pray that you will begin to think and focus on those things that will bring you the joy and peace that the Lord desires for you.
