“Now four men who were lepers were at the entrance of the [city’s] gate; and they said to one another, “Why should we sit here until we die? If we say “We will enter the city’—then the famine is in the city and we will die there; and if we sit still here, we will also die. So now come, let us go over to the camp of the Arameans (Syrians). If they let us live, we will live; and if they kill us, we will only die.” So they got up at twilight to go to the Aramean camp. But when they came to the edge of the camp, there was no one there. II Kings 7:3-5 AMP
The four lepers decided to move forward in faith. When they arrived at their destination not only was there no one there but II Kings 7:8 says “…they ate and drank, and carried away from there silver, gold, and clothing….”
We are all faced with opposition at some point in our lives, but we must continue to move forward in faith. There’s always something or someone trying to stop us, hinder us, discourage us or slow us down. But we must keep moving forward not only to get to and get what God has for us…. but also, for those God has assigned to us. Those that are watching our lives that we are not even aware are watching.
I remember years ago, during a time in my life when I was going through a lot…. marital problems, financial problems, transportation issues, you name it. I walked into my youngest son’s daycare one morning to drop him off as I normally would. This was about 23 years ago, he’s now 25. As I passed by one of the daycare workers, she said, “I want what you have.” I stopped. I looked at her. She repeated it, “I want what you have.” I’m standing there looking at this woman and thinking to myself, what do I have? She then said, “I want that peace you have.” This led to a brief conversation and an invite to church, which she accepted and kept.
I never knew she was even watching me. When I returned to my vehicle all I could do was break out into a teary praise of thanksgiving because I knew in spite of everything I was going through God was with me. He was keeping me through it all, even though there were times when I felt like I was just going to lose it! But by and through his grace I continued to move forward. I kept going to church, kept praying, kept fasting and reading His Word. Was it easy? No, but His grace was sufficient (II Corinthians 12:9). God helped me and strengthened me through it all. And someone else was helped all because I chose to keep moving forward.
So, whatever you are facing today, I admonish you to just keep moving forward. We must keep moving forward not only to get to and get what God has for us, but also for those God has assigned to us.…. family members, our children, friends, enemies, etc. Those that are watching our lives that we are not even aware are watching. Keep going to church, keep praying, keep fasting and spending time in God’s Word. Keep moving forward. If you aren’t, begin to.
