Try Something Different
“When the sun came up, Jesus was standing on the beach, but they did not recognize him. Jesus spoke to them: “Good morning! Did you catch anything for breakfast?” They answered, “No.” He said, “Throw the net off the right side of the boat and see what happens.” They did what he said. All of a sudden there were so many fish in it, they weren’t strong enough to pull it in. Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Master!” John 21:4 – 7a MSG
Just like the disciples, sometimes Jesus is telling us to do something or try something different but we’re not recognizing that it’s Jesus. It may be a thought or idea in our heart, He may send someone to us or we may feel something come over us when we are reading the Word of God. Although the disciples did not recognize that it was Jesus, they still obeyed the advice given to them to cast the net on the right side of the ship. Because they moved in faith and obeyed, John 21: 6 in the Message Bible reads, “All of a sudden there were so many fish in it, they weren’t strong enough to pull it in.” Wow! Because they did something different, they had a different result!
There’s a quote that reads…

What if the disciples had decided, “No we’re just going to keep the net on the left side of the ship.” It was after they moved in faith and obeyed that they recognized it was Jesus.
Jesus has been tugging at the heart of some of us to come closer to Him, whether in prayer, fasting, reading the Word, or taking the time to come to the House of God (church) where we draw strength from one another. Some, He’s been tugging at your heart to accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Some of you have turned from Him and have begun to follow something or someone else. He’s been tugging at your heart to turn back to Him. Whatever category above you fall into, first try yielding yourself to the tug and say “yes” to Him. Then allow Him to help you to do things differently this year. Will everything be a bed of roses after that? Will everything be perfect? No, but He will be right there with us EVERY step of the way if we allow Him to help, lead, and guide us. When others walk away, don’t understand, or simply cannot help, He will be right there. Matthew 28:20 KJV reads, “…I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Proverbs 18:24 KJV reads, “…but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Jesus is that friend. He will always be there through our heartaches, disappointments, losses, wins, victories, or whatever else we may experience.
So, this year if you want to begin to see different results, try something different. I am.
