Then Moses answered [the LORD] and said, “What if they will not believe me or take seriously what I say? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’” And the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “A staff”. Exodus 4:1, 2 AMP
I do not know about you, but I cannot believe we are in the year 2021! Wow!
Let us not start the year 2021, focusing on what we think we do not have as Moses did in Exodus Chapter 4.
Instead let us focus on what we do have.
There are times when we say we do not have something. But, as we focus on what we do have, we may find what we thought we did not have. It could be that we forgot or did not realize it has been there all the time. In Exodus Chapter 3:10, the LORD came to Moses to send him to Pharaoh to deliver a message, but Moses asked the LORD what if the people did not believe He sent him. The LORD then asked Moses a question, “What is that in your hand?” Exodus 4:2 AMP. If you continue to read, the LORD goes on to let Moses know that what he has in his hand is all he will need to prove that He had sent him. Later, in this same chapter Moses comes up with another excuse, his speech impediment. But again, the LORD asks Moses a question, “…. Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite…” Exodus 4:14 AMP. The LORD goes on again to let Moses know he has what he needs, this time it is his brother Aaron.
You too may already have just what you need, it may be spiritual, material, financial, talent(s), gift(s) or whatever it is you think you do not have. Let me give you an example. There are many examples I could share, but I will only give one. It is material. One morning I was looking for my black headband, but I really wanted and felt I needed a gray headband to match what I was wearing. Why was I looking for my black headband if I wanted gray, you might ask? I knew I had black but did not think I had gray.
While I was looking for the black headband, I discovered I did have a gray one. I forgot I had it. My husband had given me a pack of four a while back. I did not remember a gray one being in there.
What is my point?
While focusing on what I knew I did have, I discovered what I wanted and felt I needed had been there all the time. Now there have been other times when I did not find or get what I wanted or thought I needed but instead realized what I already had was what I needed. I did not need anything else. What is it that you are feeling you need or want but do not have? Or at least you think you do not have. Do not make that your focus. Instead focus on what you do have. In doing so, you may find you already have what you thought you did not.
If not, you still may find that you have what you need.
